Halloween Wall Hanging

Hi everyone!  This is Kelly from kbiendesigns.  Today I have a Halloween wall or door hanging, which is a quick and easy way to decorate for the holiday!

I started with the new Happy Haunting paper Graphic 45.  I started with an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of black cardstock.  I then cut down the striped paper from Happy Haunting to 8 x 10 1/2.  I used foam tape (a lot of it) to adhere it to the black paper.  I did this for two reasons - one for dimension and the other for stability. I then added a layer of plain orange cardstock cut down to 7 1/2 x 10, then a layer of bat paper cut down to 7 x 9 1/2.  Each layer was adhered with foam tape in different directions, again for stability.

At this point, I knew I wanted to use doilies, but I haven't had success inking the white doilies.  I never seemed to get the right color.  Then it dawned on me - cut out your own!  So I went searching and found the perfect cut from Paper Lace. I cut the doilies out at 4.5", one in black and one in orange.
I then trimmed two other patterned papers from the stack to layer horizontally, to anchor the doilies.

I grabbed my Teresa Collins Chic and Scary and cut out "BEWARE" at 4.5" from black cardstock, and layered that with foam dots.

I then cut out the adorable little witch on a pumpkin from Happy Haunting and, you guessed it, layered that on with more foam tape!  Glued down a few buttons with baker's twine and I was done!

I will be hanging this on my door on Halloween night with the adorable Melissa Frances hanger!

Vinyl Halloween Pumpkins

Hi again, this is Terri from http://www.scrappinwiththebug.blogspot.com/. I have another fun and simple project for you today. I bought these Styrofoam pumpkins last year at Michael's on clearance. (I paid $1.00 each for these pumpkins). The pumpkins are 9", 12", and 18" sizes.

 

I love fall, pumpkins, and Halloween so I used some Brown Cricut vinyl and cut some designs out to decorate the pumpkins.

If you have never worked w/ vinyl it is super easy.

Here is a few little tips for you: Do what is called a "Kiss Cut" - it is where you only cut the vinyl not the backing. To achieve this I used my expression and cut the vinyl at 3 on the pressure, 3 on the speed, and 3 on the blade depth. Vinyl cuts so nicely even small fin details cut out very nice. The second tip is for you to "weed" out the vinyl - that is just simply taking all the negative pieces out -I just use a pair of tweezers and works nicely. (Weeding out the pieces you don't want/need - ex. the windows on the house).

I used only 1 cartridge and that was Chic and Scary (Teresa Collins designed it).

Witch w/ moon 5 1/2"

Spooky tree 5"

Spooky house 3"

Bats cut in different sizes: 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" 1" and 1 1/2". (That is also another great thing about vinyl is cutting smaller pieces).

Bird 1 1/2"

Cats 2" each - one cut normal and other flipped

I then pealed the vinyl off the backing and adhered them to the pumpkins. (I used a baby wipe to clean the pumpkins of any dust first).

Vinyl is forgiving and you can lift and reposition it if you get a bubble in it. Just smooth it out.

Happy Halloween!!  This is Julie of http://mommys-playroom.blogspot.ca/.  I have a simple Halloween themed candy jar I made for my daughter to share with you today.

 I started with an empty canning jar and a pile of Smarties.  It was so tempting to eat them but I resisted!

    

 

 The lower portion of the jar is made from a piece of bright yellow cardstock cut at 3" x 15".  The old fence was cut at 2 1/2"  from Mini Monsters.  I cut the fence four times and adhered it to the yellow cardstock using one of my favorite adhesives, a Stampin' Up 2-way glue pen.

I used a pumpkin from Chic & Scary and cut it at 2 1/4".  The ribbon is American Crafts Premium Ribbon.

 Have a spooky Halloween!!

Folded Halloween Mini

Hello everyone!  Doreen here from Polkadotpaperprincess.blogspot.com.  Hope you are having a spooktacular October! 

I have made a Halloween mini for you from one folded piece of 12x12 paper!  

Here is the front of the book. 

The tag is made from Chic & Scary and the Rosette is made from Ribbons and Rosettes. 

Here are the inside pages.  The side without the embellishments were left plain to allow placement for pictures.   I intentionally made it look rough to add the the "spookiness".

 There is lots of glitter and washi tape applied to the album.  I also love the ribbon flowers!!!

The image on this page would have been upside down.  So to avoid that look, I  painted it with white paint, then orange. The circle is a large rub-on to which I added a black ribbon flower.  I also added a matt to the opposite page.  The black "spot" is the flower.  I couldn't get it to photo better.  It looks a little spooky! See the cute little kitty bling in the corner!

This back page has a chipboard sticker added to it.  

Here are the tags for the inside.  They are made from Wrap it Up!  The kitty on the fence is a stamp I added to the tag.  I think it's a Technique Tuesday stamp.

Here's how the album was made:

If I have not made the directions clear enough, let me know.  I can easily do a short video or answer questions! 

Score at 3, 6 and 9 inches from the top to the bottom of the 12x12 piece of paper.

Rotate paper 90 degrees and score again at 3, 6 & 9 inches.

 Now cut at the 3" score line starting at the top and going all the way down to the last score mark.  (3" from the bottom - horizontal line.)   Do the same at the 9" score line. 

 Flip the paper in the opposite direction (180degrees) and cut on the 6" score line  from the top down to the 3" horizontal score line.  You will note the paper is sideways.  This is because the design I want to use is the "A" side which has a directional look.  That is to say a "top" and a "bottom".  If it doesn't matter to you which way the design faces, it doesn't matter what way you put the paper.  If you want part of the paper to face upwards (like mine does) you must turn the paper so the design starts sideways!

You will end up with something that looks like a "W" or "M" depending on which way you look.

 Fan fold the paper.  You will then need to either tape, sew, bind or glue the edges.  You will end up with pockets if you like.  I alternated them so I had one pocket on the top followed by a side pocket.  This can be achieved by where you put your adhesive.  You can have no pockets if you choose, just tape all of the edges!

 Practice folding the paper to see which direction you want your favorite image to show up.  If you don't have any directional images (like card stock) it's even faster!

Cindy was a former Circle Blog DT member and also taught classes at some of the Cricut Events. We have missed seeing her work and so pleased to have her on Cricut FANatics Blog today.

Hello Cricut Fans.   Cindy here to share a really quick Halloween Wreath for your door.   There’s so many great Halloween cartridges to work with, but my all time favorite spider web is from the Teresa Collins Chic and Scary cartridge. 

 

I cut my Spider Web and then, because I wanted it to be wreath-like, I cut the center out.  I actually cut three webs and adhered them together to give it a little more stability, offsetting the top most one just a little for more depth.  Of course, you could cut one from chipboard for the same effect, but I’m not a big fan of cutting chipboard.  Once I glued the webs together, I sprayed them with a gold glimmer mist spray.  I usually quickly wipe off excess spray, but this time I let it stay, wanting the usually despised warping of my paper to give it a little more character. Once it was dried, I adhered gems to it along the inside and outer spokes.

 

Spiders!  This is my favorite spider, from the October 31st cartridge.  I cut several and then applied brown flocking to the heads and bodies.  All there’s left to do is glue them to the web. I used Helmar Liquid Scrap dots to allow them a little lift. 

 

I found this grey webbing at Dollar Tree and decided to drape it behind my web.  

This is just a starting point.  You can use your favorite web and your favorite spiders.  You can put anything you want on your wreath and you don’t really have to cut out the center, it’ll still be a nice door piece or wall hanging.  Try it in other colors... oranges, purples, black.

Halloween Treat Box

Hello again! This is Angela from Angies Paper Passion with my October post here at Cricut FANatics. I want to share a Halloween treat box that I designed in the Cricut Design Studio some time ago. This was before the CraftRoom and all of the wonderful cartridges that we have now with the boxes and bags. I used square, rectangle, and tag shapes from Plantin School cartridge to create this treat box that you can use for many, many more occasions other than Halloween. These would be cute for other holidays, birthdays, showers, and wedding favors just by changing the colors and adding an different topper. Oh, and of course, changing the treats inside! I will post the CDS file on my blog for anyone who’d like it.

(Don’t you just LOVE the purple M&M’s?)

This is the box after it is cut with the Cricut.

Now just score! Starting from the left (the side with the window) score at 1”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 7”  and 9”. Turn 90 degrees and score at 1” and 3”. (This cut was embossed with the Big Shot)

Place Scor-Tape on the ends on the 4 tabs.

Cut or punch out a square piece of transparency paper that is slightly larger than the window opening. I used a 1 3/4” punch. Use the Scor-Tape to adhere the transparency to the underside of the window opening.

(I tried to take a photo of the top to get the transparency but I can’t tell if you can see it or not)

Put it all together and you have a treat box!

Do not adhere the back flap. This is where you will add your treats!

Decorate the top….

and the inside and you’re done! I used Chic & Scary for the spider web on this one and I used Happy Hauntings for the tombstones in the first photo.  Remember, I’ll have the CDS cut file on my blog at Angie's Paper Passion.

Two Cards: Enjoying Autumn & "Scare" Globe

Hi!  This is Lori from The Singing Shell blog with an autumnal card and a Halloween card for you.

I had no idea what to make for this month's post but then I got inspired to make two cards.  Here is the first:

ENJOYING AUTUMN

I love autumn for all its beautiful colors and for the cool breezes it brings.  I wanted to make something whimsical and carefree so I chose the barefooted girl riding a bike from the  Something to Celebrate cartridge.  She is on page 37.  With her hair flying behind her, she looks happy - doesn't she?  (Even though she has no facial features!  I am reading body language :)   She was cut at 3 1/2 inches. .  I also used Distress Ink Pads for the hardware on the bike.

  I used Distress Markers to outline the edges of the dress
and then added glitter to make her stand out.   

The tree [tree3] is from the Heritage cartridge and is cut at 4 1/2 inches.  I inked that up with lots of different Distress Ink Pads because I couldn't find the right paper.  I gently tapped the colors randomly onto the die cut.

Colors used: Evergreen Bough, Festive Berries,
Antique Linen, Wild Honey.  

The leaves [leaf] are from the Doodlecharms cartridge - an oldie but a goodie.  I cut those at a 1/2 and 3/4 inches.  I was nervous because I never cut anything that small on purpose.  But it worked like a charm.  I inked those up with the same Distress Pads, too.  That way they would match my tree.

Now for the background.  I used washi tape to create a kind of road across the background.  I used the Musical Flourish folder for the background and then inked the embossed parts lightly.  I only embossed the part above the washi tape to create a distinction between earth and sky.  I rounded the corners with We R Memory Keepers corner chompers.

I purposely made the tree bigger than I needed so
I had to trim it.  It took me a day to find
the courage!

The final product :)

So that's it - an auutmnal card for any occasion.


"SCARE" GLOBE

This is a snow globe with a twist.  And I know - it is not really a “scare” globe.  This little guy is too cute to scare anybody:)  I picked "scare"for strictly for its Halloween appeal. 

 

 

The snow globe aka “scare” globe is from Joy of the Season and is cut at 5.25 inches.  I added a little blue on the left side of the globe to give it a little dimension.  I used the Tumbled Glass Distress marker and then just went over it with a wet detail brush to lighten it up and spread it out a bit.  The spider web is from Chic & Scary and cut it at 3 inches.  I used only the edges and then cut off the top.

 

Mister Bear from Teddy Bear Parade is cut at 3 inches.  I didn’t use the trick or treat bag because it would have made the little scene too busy.  I ran the Spiced Marmalade Distress Marker over the edges of the orange part of the markers.  I used the Forest Moss Distress Marker for the green.  For the ears, I used a Rose Red Copic Marker.  For the muzzle I also used a Copic Marker – Chamois.

 

TIP: You can make your own custom color ribbon.
 The ribbon is actually plain seam binding that I colored with
 Spiced Marmalade and Forest Moss Distress Markers.
 I added some water to soften the colors. 

Although I really loved creating Mister Bear, I loved making the spiders more!  I added glitter - Glow-in-the-Dark Glitter.  First, I cut the spiders from Doodlecharms at a ½ inch.  Then, I made their eyes with Glossy Accents.  That way when I added the glow-in-the-dark glitter and turned off the lights, you would be able to see the eyes, too.
