Daddy League MVP

Hello, fellow crafters!  Today I have a Father's Day card featuring Total Sports from Creative Memories.  I love how easy this cartirdge is to use and it is perfect for a sports lover's Father's Day card.  That description fits my husband, Tom, to a tee. Tom loves baseball with a passion.  I used navy blue, white and red as the main colors because the Yankees are his favorite team. GO YANKEES!  However, you can substitute the colors to show support for your favorite guy's team :)

The baseball glove (3 in.) and the baseball (5 in.) are icons from page 61 . The font is so much fun.  It is perfect for a lot of different sports and has the same look as the Varsity Letter cartridge.  I cut out the M (p. 59), V (p. 42), and P (p. 56) at 1.75 in.  The letters are popped up to make them stand out more. The ticket diecut is from Art Philosophy, p. 64.  I cut that at 2.25 in.  I was going to add a baseball bat.  When I was positioning all the pieces before I glued them down, though, it looked like overkill so I scratched that idea.  The "Daddy League" sentiment is hand written.  (My printer went on strike!)  The star is from a Sizzix die.

All in all I had a lot of fun with this cartridge and can't wait see more projects done with it.  I hope you have a great week!

Here’s a Mother’s Day Card for all of you!

Good morning crafty friends! This is Angie from Angie’s Paper Passion! I was inspired to create a card from Split Coast Stampers with some Cricut cuts thrown in! It is called a Tri-Fold card. It looks difficult to make but I was surprised by just how easy it was. I can’t wait to make some more of this type of card!

I made this card for my Mom and red is her favorite color. I think she’ll be very happy with it!

I started with paper from DCWV called The Four Seasons stack (beautiful papers in this stack for each of the seasons with texture and some glitter!). After hand cutting my card in a cream cardstock, the patterned paper, and the mats in red cardstock I then decided which Cricut cuts to use to dress up my card. I used three different Cricut cartridges for the embellishments: Florals Embellished, CTMH Art Philosophy, and Flower Shoppe.

The “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment, was cut from Florals Embellished @ 1.88”. I added some Stickles to the little pink flower and adhered a flat-backed pearl to the center. This cart has some wonderful Mother’s Day sentiments!

The two butterflies were cut from Art Philosophy @ 1.5” and 1.25”. I adhered the two layers together just between the wings–not the wings themselves – to give the butterflies a little more dimension. Then I placed two pearls in the center of the smaller one and three in the center of the larger one.

This next part was really an afterthought. While I was waiting for my bug to cut something out, I started playing around with the DCWV paper that was left over. One of the motifs had this envelope surrounded by roses and had “A Tribute of Love” printed on it. How perfect for my Mom’s card! So I did some ‘fussy cutting’ around it on three sides. The left side of it already had a straight edge because it was on the edge of the 12x12 sheet of paper so I just aligned that side up against the edge of that card panel and adhered it. I added a small pop dot under the right side of it so pops off the card a little bit.

The middle top and bottom sections were a little too plain so I added some pearl flourishes.

Now for the card front! I made the flower from the Flower Shoppe cart and I LOVED how it came out! I used paper from a 6x6 pad by Echo Park called This & That and cut it out @ 3”. The flower I used from the cart was the <FUN> shapes on page 16 in the handbook. I’ve been on a flower making kick lately (can’t you tell by my previous posts? lol) and this flower was so much fun to make! It was inked and rolled before I adhered it together and added a large pearl to the center.

And there you have it! This years Mother’s Day card for my Mom! I think that it’s safe to show it here because Mom is 93 and not very interested in surfing the web, lol! It wasn’t that long ago that she asked me to explain what “that word I keep hearing about means?” The word was “Google”! I cracked up! But can you just imagine all the things that she has seen and has lived through? I’ll be so lucky and blessed to live as long and still be able to tell you who I am!

Life is Beautiful Layout

Hello crafters. Cindy here from Scrap-Obsessed. Sorry I'm late today. I was trying to finish up today's project and realized I didn't have the right pictures to go with it. It was originally supposed to be a layout for Mother's Day, but I didn't have pictures of my mom that I could use. What I did have sitting on my desk were lots of pictures of our new puppy, Coco Puff.

Sorry the picture is crooked. I was trying to hurry and used my phone instead of my camera.

With this layout today I wanted to show how you can take a paper kit and add few Cricut elements to dress it up a bit. All the paper and stickers are from a paper collection called La Belle Vie at Close to my Heart. It was in last year's catalog and I've had it sitting in my room collecting dust until now. I really need to find more time to use my supplies.

On the left side of the layout I added a butterfly and flourish from Art Philosophy. On the right side I added another butterfly, flourish, a couple corner flourishes and our puppy's name.

Here is a close-up of one of the butterflies.I cut the bottom and top layer with the same paper just to add a little dimension. Then I added a few pearl accents.

Pretty Purse and Gift Enclosure Cards

Hello Cricut Fanatics Fans! Happy Monday! Chris here from scrappin-nanapuddin.blogspot.com sharing my new obsession! I love making these little gift enclosure card sets with the purse and I make them for the Azle Lions Club raffle! I love to see the ladies all hoping that they get their number drawn first, because the purse and cards are always first to go! I make all kinds of colors and patterns but this one is my favorite.

The purse was cut on CCR using the CTMH Artiste at 5.7x10.35 will hold the 3x3 cards perfectly. The doily was stamped and embossed using the CTMH  Love Doily as well as the Celebrate. The butterfly is a MS butterfly punch. These make awesome gift enclosure cards and the little purse can also be used for a small gift or make a few for favors if you are maybe having a bridal shower?! The ladies at Lions love the little purse best! Me too!! All the card were cut at 3x6 using the rounded card on the Artiste cartridge also! Best cartridge Cricut/CTMH made, IMHO! If this cart doesn't have it, you don't need it, I always say!! LOL!

This is the same purse, cut a little bigger to hold the butterfly cards which are 3x4. CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy was used to make these. I used "hide contour" to move the butterflies where I wanted them! So I could emboss the butterfly in white on the front, the stamp also from CTMH. The paper was cut with white Colorbok paper and colored with gelatos! if you haven't tried gelatos, you are missing some fun! You can make any color you want or need!

Beautiful flowers layout

Dashing Through The Snow

Hi There,

Yvonne here from Ink-spirations and I'm glad to be back for another post. I missed last month as there are only 28 days in February!
I know winter still isn't over in some parts of the country although I'm glad I don't have any snow. I've had my share of the white stuff and will have more opportunities to live in it in my future.

My son and grandson are out enjoying some sledding time. Apparently Xavier doesn't enjoy speed, yet!

Blue cardstock for the background. The snowflakes paper was purchased.

The word snow was cut using Speaking of Winter. The white letters were glittered as well as the tops of the torn white paper. The brads that are in the centre of some of the snowflakes were covered in glossy accents and then glitter applied.

Animal Antics for the lettering. Art Philosophy for the banners. Using the text mode on CCR I typed the words and sized them to fit on the yellow banner ( I did this using two separate layers). With the gel pen inserted in the cricut I drew the lettering on the cardstock. I DID NOT unload the paper afterwards. Because I had positioned the words overtop of the yellow banner I changed out the gel pen for the blade housing and then cut the yellow layer.

Can't seem to find the cartridge I cut the snowflakes from, however they were covered in glitter and then printed on Grafix Rub-Onz for the journalling.

Spring Break and "Fancy Nancy's" Tea Party!

Hello! This is Chris from www.scrappin-nanapuddin.blogspot.com. I can't believe Spring Break is gone and it's Easter already!! We are a little chilly right now, only in the upper 60's, but 70's are coming back tomorrow and hopefully Easter!! Gotta be nice for the Easter Egg hunt!! So I have an Easter Card and a layout for you today!

Our awesome library has programs for the children during spring break and summer reading program. This year during spring break they had a "Fancy Nancy's Tea Party" and it was awesome! They had a professional ballerina come in and teach the girls some ballet steps for about 20 minutes and the girls were "Ecstatic"!!! to say the least! One of Fancy Nancy's favorite words I'm told. I never read the books, did you? But my granddaughter will be reading them now!! These are the first 2 pages my DGD and I worked on this weekend. And my DGD being the wonderful drama queen she is, and thats DRAMA with a capital D!, said "Nana, I can feel it!" and she had been complaining about a sore ankle from a fall at school so I asked it her ankle hurt. She places hands on chest and says "No, I can feel the love in those pages"! OMG! I about fell out of my chair! 

The pages are 8x8 and they are from a scrapbook I bought years ago on clearance because the pages were already decorated and I was just started to get into scrapbooking. Now they are perfect for this occasion. The title and the Ecstatic card were from the party. The top pic title as well as the teaparty die cut and tea set was cut using my own font and an SVG with an older version of SCAL. The white doily mat was cut using one of the new WRMK mini 8 and matching border punch.The tea set looked kinda plain even though it was cut using DCWV shimmer paper. So I "stickled" them! The tea cup border was cut using Wall Decor at 1". The Tea party invite and balloons and princess was cut using "Best Friends" Imagine cart.

The Easter card is an A2 size card cut using CTMH Art Philosophy cart. The cross is from "Wedding" and they were embossed using Swiss Dots and a new AG Pirouette folder. Butterflies were cut using DCWV glitter paper and MS punch. And was glimmer misted with Dazzling Diamonds, of course!

See through Easter Egg card

Hellow this is Terri from www.scrappinwiththebug.blogspot.com wishing you a very HAPPY SPRING. I know wehre I live it's ANYTHING but Spring here. It's cold, damp and possibility of snow.

So with that being said I figured I'd make a cute fun little spring/ Easter card. A friend of mine was making/selling those fun panaramic sugar eggs so this is where my inspiration came from.  On the inside of the egg she put a cute little egg and bunny w/ some grass. I thought I'd just make a fun bunny.

The Bunny is cut at 3" from Create a Critter 2 - I just love that cartridge it's just so fun. 
The Egg card was from Art Philosophy cut at 5" using the card function
The window opening also from Art Philosophy - I hid the inner egg line and then cut the vellum out so it would fit over the opening.
The grass is made from Easter 2010 cartridge - cut at 1.8"

I added a little tag - made from Emma with www.creativetimeforme.com 's mini tag die and mini tag sentiments.
I added a small flower brad.

BUZZZZZ Flower/Heart Wreath full of LOVE



Hi again this is Terri from http://www.scrappinwiththebug.blogspot.com/. I know,  I know Valentines is already over but I made this a couple of days ago for Valentines and it was just too fun not to share with you.

I used Arts philosophy cartridges and cut out different colors of flowers. I wanted purple, pink and dark purple. I cut the flowers at 2.5", on Font Heart 3 Shift function.
Depending on how full you want it to look and/or what the starting size is of your base you will need about 150-200 flowers. This specific project took 190.
I started with a Styrofoam core - in the shape of a heart. I painted it a soft pink so that way in case any areas were not filled in 100% it wasn't white.
 I then added the flowers. I added about 10 of the light purple, then did the same of the pink, dark and light again. Then I would add to the other side that way the "lines" were kept pretty straight. I used Scotch Quick dry adhesive to add the flowers. I worked allot in sections on this. I will admit this is a simple project but takes a few hours to make.

So since I like to share my tricks here are a few.
I have learned a few tricks for rolling the flowers  - so here goes maybe this will help you a little. Tip #1 - Use a  quilling tool to get them started
#2 - After you have rolled about 2 turns put a small dot of glue on the flower - I use Scotch Quick dry glue - then continue rolling the rest. This will keep the "bud" portion of the flower and not unroll allot.

#3 - When you get to the end put a little glue on the tail area - and then put the rolled flowers on the glue and let them unroll. Then hold and press.
#4 - DO NOT try to glue your flowers to the base until the GLUE HAS DRIED completely - especially if using a thin weight paper.
#5 When putting them on the base/wreath form - get them as close as you can together (makes it look full).

I used for the paper a simple paper pack from Michael's - it was just simple pinks, and purples. All of these papers were in the pack. The paper is 8 1/2 x11 and you can get 12 flowers off the one piece of paper.

While I loved the look of it with just the flowers I wanted to go a step further. I wanted a little "banner" so I used My Creative Time's heart die and cut them out in the bright pink - then I cut out  3/4" letters w/ shadow from Kate's ABC to form the word LOVE.

The adorable little bee's were cut at 2" from Create a Critter 2 cartridge again in the coordinating colors from the paper.
I then over lapped the hearts to each other and the bee a little - and just glued to the roses.
A little stickles to give the bee a cute little shimmer/glitter.

 

Here is the back - I only did 4 rows because I want this to lay flat against the door. I may/may not add ribbon - it will depend on what door I hang it on since it's not water proof I don't think I'll put on the front door.

Valentine Card - I Hope You See

 Hi everyone, Maria here from Stamp, Cut, Create! Today I'm sharing another Valentine I made along with a mini tutorial on using UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). My card was inspired by an Inkadinkado stamp that resembled an eye chart. I don't have the stamp, but instead created the image using Word and then printing it out. The red frame is from the Art Philosophy cartridge and I used the Gypsy to tweek the size, adjusting the height and width so it would just fit around the printed image. I then added some doodling with a white Gelly Roll pen.
The glasses are from the Forever Young cartridge. I wanted them to look like shiny plastic frames, and that's where the UTEE comes in. Like any embossing powder, the first step is use a medium that will make it stick to the surface you are heat embossing. For this, I use Versamark. When I'm covering an entire image, I simply place it directly on the pad and tamp it down to completely coat it with the Versamark.

This is what the piece should look like with a good, wet covering of the Versamark.

The next step is to coat the piece with the UTEE. I store my UTEE along with a plastic spoon in a plastic container with a lid. (Not my original idea, but a good one!) I hold the piece with tweezers over the container and sprinkle the UTEE on it until it's completely covered.

 Then I tap the piece until all the excess UTEE falls off. There will be a small space where the tweezers were, but you can simply dip that corner in the tub and again tap off the excess.

The next step is to use the heat gun to melt the UTEE. I have a ZAP! by American Crafts and so far have been very happy with it. Start applying the heat and in a few seconds you will see the UTEE begin to melt, keep moving the heat source along the entire piece until it is all melted. I use long tweezers for this step, because it does get hot and I've burned my fingers on more than one occasion! Don't keep the heat on too long or the UTEE will turn white.

After the first coat your image will sometimes look bumpy like this. Not to worry though, simply repeat the process of  Versamark, UTEE, then heat and it should come out like this:

Doesn't that look like a plastic eye glass frame? I think so! You can actually continue to add coats of UTEE until the piece is your desired thickness. Another nice thing, if you end up with a blemish on it, you can simply re-apply the heat and melt it out.

Here are the completed glasses with all the layers put together. I  added some bling with Swarovski heat set crystals and adhered it to the card with foam tape.
The heart paper is from SEI's With All My Heart Collection. It's mounted on a slightly larger piece of Hollyhock paper from CTMH. I machine stitched the edges with a silver metallic thread by Sulky. Finally, I added some adhesive rhinestones to the bottom of the card.

This is what CUTE looks like!

This is Yvonne from Ink-spirations sharing a scrapbook page today. This is my Grandson at about 2 months old. I just loved the little tongue sticking out and almost mischief in the eyes.

I started with pattern paper from DCWV - All About Boys. Matted the photo in two shades of blue.

The giraffe cut at 5" from Imagine cartridge - Blast Off. Arrows - Art Philosophy-straight arrow 1.9" and curved arrow 2.5"

The scalloped shape cut twice from the Artiste cartridge. Once at 6.2" and again at 6.4"
The diamond pattern also from Artiste cut at 2".There was two layers to the image. I used CCR and welded four of them together to create the grid. I liked the rhinestones for added dimension.

The font is from Animal Antic. .5" for blue letters and 1" for CUTE. I used a red micro pen to stitch around the green letters as well as around the scalloped mat.

The diamond border is from Artiste cut at 1.75". The small diamond in the centre was the negative from the panel above.

All orange pieces distressed with Tim Holtz Ink-Spiced Marmalade and green pieces - Crushed Olive. .01 Micron red pigment pen used for stitching.
