School Days

Happy Friday!!!  This is Anita from Landlockedislandgirl Blog !  My only Son graduated from College this past Summer, so this is the first September in 17 years that I haven't had to prepare for "Back to School" is one way or another.  This project brought back many  "First Day of School" memories.

The inspiration for my project came from the Graphic 45 "An ABC Primer" paper collection.  Now, I don't know if you all have the same addiction to "collecting" the beautiful Graphic 45 paper, but I think I own every collection and find it PAINFUL to actually use it!  I have to admit, after completing my project, I ran out and bought another pack to replace the pack I used.....

The "canvas" for my project is the 7 gypsies Artist Printers Tray.  I started by cutting 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" rectangles and inking the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in Walnut Stain.  I glued each piece down in each cubby with Aleene's Tacky Glue (it's important to use a good glue, regular adhesive won't stand the test of time. This I learned the hard way!!!).

I edged the project with the alphabet, cut from one of the pages from the collection (I just trimmed out the middle of the page).  All of the cuts were cut on my Expression, from A Child's Year and TBBM.  The silhouettes on the Child's Year cart are some of my favorites!  The chalkboard silhouette, apple and tag (TBBM) were cut at 3", the reading girl and "READ" for the tag were cut at 1 1/2".  The other embellishments were cut from the papers in the collection.

As I fill up this tray with his school pics, I'll remember all the school day memories....the first days, the plays, graduations, Proms, moving him into the Dorms, all the calls home for money and how proud I was to see him take that final walk across the stage!
