I used Cricut's Create A Critter cartridge for my image, cutting it at 3".  I also used papers from DCWV's Fiesta Forever stack.  For the sand I used Paper Studio Kraft cardstock.

I thought this stamp from Joy's Life Pun in the Sun stamp set was perfect for my little fishy hello card.

3-D Lantern

Hello everyone! This is Angie from Angie's Paper Passion with a 3-D lantern from Cricut Exclusives, 3-D Lanterns. I absolutely love making these and they'd also be great for decorating for parties! After I made the last one, my little granddaughter wanted one for her room in her favorite color - purple.

Here's what I made for her:

I added a handle made of cardstock and strips of vellum. 

And of course she had to have bling on it!

I decided to try cutting out the rolled flowers out of vellum instead of cardstock and I really like how they turned out! These flowers were cut out with the Artiste cart at 2.5" and 2". Just remember to change your settings (pressure, blade depth, & speed) on your machine when cutting something as thin as vellum.

She turns on the little light under her lantern every night before going to sleep and thinks about her Grandma!

(OK, I just added that last part myself but I'm pretty sure she 

really does thinks about me every night!)

Happy Anniversary card

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!  This is Erika from www.EKittyscraps.blogspot.com.  I wanted to share with you the card I made for my Stepson's 1st Anniversary which is today.  The wedding colors were champagne and red so I used these colors in my card.

I actually cut this card from the Sweethearts cartridge at 5 inches using the card function key with the shift key on.  This card is located on page 70.  The cricut machine cut out the words "Happy Anniversary" from the card  so I used red paper that I glued onto the inside of the card.  (See below). 

 I cut the "1st" at one inch from the Artiste cartridge and glued to the front of the card.  I cut out the champagne glasses at 1.50 inches also on p. 70 of the Sweethearts cartridge.  Next I used my punch for the red heart and added silver bling. 

I added champagne flutes on the inside of the card and printed out my verse for the card on silver 8.5" cardstock.  I did originally print on vellum but liked the silver cardstock better. 

Here is the finished card with an added surprise-Graycie Kitty decided to pose with her pink tongue sticking out!  Lol!

What I liked about the Sweetheart cartridge is that it is so versatile for weddings, anniversaries or love themed projects.  This cartridge contains card, tag and envelope functions on every page in the booklet so you can make several projects in a short amount of time.  There are also many other cartridges with the card feature so you can stock up on cards.  Thanks for stopping by and have a good month!

Humorous Card with Original Caption

Hello again to all the wonderful inspiration seekers, who come to CricutFANatics to get a  creative mojo blast.  It's Melody, aka Kauaimelody on the Cricut Messageboards and Cricut Melody on my blog, and I hope you are up for a little chuckle today. 

Here is a Sneak Peek 

Before I show you the card, I made, a little back story. When I lived in Illinois, I contributed to a small annual publication called the Lee Centenniel, which promoted community events. I was the sole cartoonist, and  so loved trying to come up with funny captions .  Last week , I thought about how much I missed doing that and wondered if I could still come up with one.  So I decided to challenge myself , and create one for all of you, and put it on a simple card.

So today's blog is about prodding you to  writing something on your card that is completely original and funny.  OK, so maybe you will be the only one who thinks it is funny, and if that is the case, just keep it for yourself for kicks and giggles when you need a little boost. 

And now for my caption:

 So to help you answer the question that the caption poses, a close up for you.  If you are of a delicate nature, and find a lady cow's udders in a lavender sparkly bikini offensive, please advert your eyes, and scroll quickly  past it.  :) I admit to having a silly bone in case you are wondering abut my sense of humor.

I used the Imagine More cartridge for the cow and cut the bikini out of wired ribbon.  It had a nice silver border, and I used this to "keep the bikini up" so there was no wardrobe malfunction.

I was going to design it on Cricut Craftroom, (Half circle, four cut elongated ovals) but decided to trace the cow and freehand it instead.  I made little rosettes out of narrow folded  ribbon. This is an A2 card and the backgrounds are paint cards I had left over from a project.  Very easy to do.

I typed the caption at 16 and 18, wrapped the card in sheer ribbon , a bow and another rosette. I made it very simple as I wanted the caption to stand out the most.

Daddy League MVP

Hello, fellow crafters!  Today I have a Father's Day card featuring Total Sports from Creative Memories.  I love how easy this cartirdge is to use and it is perfect for a sports lover's Father's Day card.  That description fits my husband, Tom, to a tee. Tom loves baseball with a passion.  I used navy blue, white and red as the main colors because the Yankees are his favorite team. GO YANKEES!  However, you can substitute the colors to show support for your favorite guy's team :)

The baseball glove (3 in.) and the baseball (5 in.) are icons from page 61 . The font is so much fun.  It is perfect for a lot of different sports and has the same look as the Varsity Letter cartridge.  I cut out the M (p. 59), V (p. 42), and P (p. 56) at 1.75 in.  The letters are popped up to make them stand out more. The ticket diecut is from Art Philosophy, p. 64.  I cut that at 2.25 in.  I was going to add a baseball bat.  When I was positioning all the pieces before I glued them down, though, it looked like overkill so I scratched that idea.  The "Daddy League" sentiment is hand written.  (My printer went on strike!)  The star is from a Sizzix die.

All in all I had a lot of fun with this cartridge and can't wait see more projects done with it.  I hope you have a great week!

A Wish Came True

Hello. Cindy here from Scrap-obsessed. I have a quick layout today that I made using a couple of older cartridges. I took this picture of my grand-daughter a couple of weeks ago and knew I had to highlight it in a scrapbook page.

The title was made using the Storybook cartridge cut at 3". The shape under the title was also cut from the Storybook cartridge at 4". The dandelion was made using the Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge at 3 1/2".  All of the papers are from Close to my Heart.

I hope you like the layout. Don't forget to get out your older cartridges and put them to use.

Die Cut Tip Tutorial - Themed Layout Design

Hello Cricut FANatics. Its Debbie O'Neal of Scrap Me Quick Designs.  Happy June 1st to you all !  Hard to believe the summer is here already, isn't it? Our lives are currently filled with end of school activities, graduation parties, weddings, summer vacation planning, summer camp trips, etc.  I think it is one of the busiest times of the year, don't you?

Speaking of summer camps, last year I helped volunteer at my granddaughter's Girl Scout Day Camp. It had a western theme with lots of great western activities, crafts and games.  Of course, I took a ton of pictures and wanted to scrapbook them but wasn't sure how to go about capturing the fun of the photos with the theme of the event.  That lead me to think about Layout Design and using my Cricut so I wanted to share some tips I used to create this page for our Die Cut Tip Tutorial - Themed Layout Design.

 

Die Cut Tip Tutorial -  Themed Layout Design

 

Step 1: Find Die Cut Images on your cartridges that fit your event theme and support your photos.

           

My Example:  I used the Old West Cartridge and selected images that worked with my design idea of game playing and western.

 

Step 2: Determine how many photos you want to use on your page and possible placement.

Begin by selecting your focal point photo and creating a photo mat to emphasize the importance of the photo.

 

My Example: I had this one great photo of my granddaughter all decked out in her western garb (don't you love that fake mustache???) so that was my focal point photo.  I made my own Wanted Poster as the photo mat to continue to emphasize the theme.

 

Step 3: Determine a title (and subtitle if wanted )for your layout and cut out the letters and images

 

My Example: I thought about how she looked like a real "desperado" and came up with the "Armed & Dangerous title and "ready to play" subtitle to again play up the game playing aspect.

 

Step 4: Create some embellishments for your page with your die cuts and size them to fit the areas on your layout where you will place them.

 

My Example: The sign on the Old West cartridge seemed like the perfect subtitle spot and then I created the cards and card box to play up the game playing theme.  I needed one more embellishment to balance out my page and decided to use the cactus to emphasize the western theme. 

 

Tip: Make sure and enhance your die cut images using ink and markers, etc. to add more dimension to your images.  And don't forget that pop dots really help add that wow factor to your die cut placement on your layouts too !

 

Hope this Themed Layout Design Tip gives you some insight on how to take your die cut images and create your own themed layouts.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates

Glass Pebble Jewelry

Good morning Cricut Fanatics!  Hope you are having a wonderful three day weekend as we celebrate this beautiful Memorial Day.  Thank you to all who have served in our military to ensure the freedom we enjoy.

This is Rita from Rita's Paper Obsession.  Today I have a very easy jewelry making project to share with you.

I have a friend that is battling ovarian cancer.  To let her know we are thinking of her, we wear teal ribbons to work.  I wanted a little something to dress up my ribbon so I made a glass pebble pin and pendant.

To create glass pebble jewelery, you will need a few basic supplies:  glass pebbles (purchased from a dollar store); Glossy Accents; a jewelry bail, pin backing or even a magnet; and a slick surface adhesive (I used Aleene's Glass and Bead); paper of your choosing (I used scraps and found that the light weight paper is easier to work with).

For this project I used my Sophie cartridge and selected the image found on page 50, Label9.  The glass pebbles come in varying sizes.  Cut a circle to cover the back of the pebble.  My circles were cut at 1 1/4 inches.  I cut the image smaller at 1 inch  as I wanted to see the entire image on my piece.

Layer and embellish your images onto the background circle.  Keep the artwork as flat as possible as this will be butted up to the backside of the glass pebble.  As I mentioned, light weight patterned paper works best.  I like adding some sparkle to the cuts with my Gelly Roll pen.  Clear Star is my favorite as it gives the shimmer but lets the paper pattern and color through.

Next adhere the image to the back of the glass pebble with Glossy Accents.  I found it easier to put the Glossy Accents in the center of the image and then place the glass pebble over it.  Press down so the Glossy Accents covers the entire image.

Flip the glass pebble over and cover back of pebble with Glossy Accents.

Once Glossy Accents has dried completely (I waited 24 hours), adhere pin back or jewelry bail.

Jewelry is ready to wear as soon as the adhesive dries.  I glued the teal ribbon to the back of the pin.

Hello again fellow crafters it's Terri from http://www.scrappinwiththebug.blogspot.com/ bringing you a quick and simple little card.

On Wednesday it was my daughter's last day of preschool - (Sniffle Sniffle). So I wanted to give the teachers a special gift and a fun little simple card to. My daughter had 2 teachers both who I've grown to adore over the past 2 years she was in preschool. They are so sweet and wonderful I wanted them to feel special. So I bought them a fun little locket style necklace that holds little charms. I had the charms customized with their initials, and a sweet little apple.

Since I made them an apple card for Teacher's appreciation I waned to make a different card for the last day. I made these cuties. I was debating on using the graduation bear or the little school girl bear. As you can see I chose the school girl bear. Isn't she just so sweet.

I used Teddy Bear parade and cut the bear at 3" - if you notice I took Nadia's advice to make the object a little more dimensional. I inked around her and around her face to give her a little depth. You can't really see it here but I added glossy accents to the nose, and apple.

I then attached her to an action wobble spring to make her move.

I added a small brown square and then also some SRM stitched stickers on the side along with stickers saying, Thanks, Thank you... I thought it was perfect little addition to these cards.

They were simple and fun to make.

A Sweet Treat

Good morning everyone. I'm L.B. from Cool Beans By L.B. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I try really hard to create more masculine themed cards to share with you,but right now I am overflowing with female birthdays so I am fun wobble card I created for a good friend.

I love this old school DCWV paper from the Sweet Stack. It layered just right on the birthday girls favorite color.

Next came the cute cupcake off of Simply Charmed, of course I have a habit of cutting of the cherry topper. I embossed the icing with my Swirls folder then added gems using some Stickles and tiny gems. I also added Stickles to the cupcake wrapper.

 I had never put gems on this way before but it turned out great and they all stuck on quite well. After everything was all dry I attached my cupcake with an Action Wobble.

Flower Bouquet

Hi Everyone! It's Melody Lane here from www.MelodyLaneDesigns.com I wanted to share my first bouquet of flowers with you. I made these for my mom for Mother's Day.

 I made the Poppy flower from the Cricut cartridge Giant flowers. It is fairly easy to make, I did a video on making all the flowers and decorating the vase. But I had not had a chance to edit it yet. They will be in separate videos.

The Poppy flowers was cut at just over 3" and I ran the petals through a crimper and inked the edges. I put the petals together secured them with hot glue. I then turned the flower upside down and put a 16 gauge wire in the center and lots of hot glue.I also cut leaves out from the same cartridge and folded them in half and put through the crimper.  I added a little hot glue to center of the leaves and added 22 gauge green wire and folded the leaf just to cover the wire. I wrapped the wire with the leaf, to the wire I attached to the flower, and then wrapped it all in floral tape.

The daisies are made from the Flower Shoppe cartridge I do not know the size, I did many sizes. I ill also have a video on just the daisy. I curled back the petals and added a little color to them with an ink pad. I did not add leaves to the daisies. 

I made carnations with 3 sizes of Fiskers scallop circle punches and tissue paper. I used the large, x large and 3x large punches. It was a little difficult to cut the tissue paper with the punches, its best if you fold and make as many layers at once that you can fit into the punch. I used about 6 layers of each size and attached to a floral stem I bought in the floral section of any craft store. I staked the tissue paper layers smallest on top and one at a time I crinkled them up and then put hot glue underneath the flower at the base and then spread the paper out until it looked like a carnation. At least as much like I remember because I do not remember the last time I was sent flowers. lol.

FYI Never through out tissue paper, you can reuse it. If you want it smooth and nice again to put in a gift bag you can iron it on a low temp. I get mine from the Dollar Tree comes in many colors. Same place I bought the vase, I just painted it and added bling.

FATHER'S DAY GIFT BOX

Sorry about the delay... I picked the wrong date so it didn't post at midnight...lol

Hi, it's Freda from CannCreate Designs, I'm back with a quickie 3D Father's Day gift box project using SVG files, MTC and my Expression. 

I was looking for a gift box for my hubby's father's day gift.  He has been wanting a new wallet so I though the size of this box would be perfect...

This project comes from "The Green Room" set at SVGCuts.com.  I was really amazed at how easy and quickly this project came together.

For the top I found this great green velvety specialty paper from HOTP called Forest Suede at my local LSS that cuts like butter.  Just to be certain I taped it down all the way around so I didn't waste an ounce......

I assembled the top before I decided the "balls" looked a little flat.  So I would advise that you assemble the rack of balls and embellish before attaching to the table....I was a little worried that I was going to mess up the suede.  Draw stripes and dots on the ball pieces, assembled rack base and frame then glued the balls in place on the rack base piece.  Place rounded blobs of Glossy Accents on each ball to make them look a little more realistic....let dry...

Use a tape runner adhesive to attach the velvet to the table top base. Next put the table top frame in place and embellish as desired.  (I put Queen & Co. black gems in the holes around the edges).  Draw the embellish lines (gold and black stripes) and color the chalk tip white on the stick, allow inks to dry then color the white tip with a little bit of blue on the end. Fold the stick along the scored lines and glue (it will be a square shaped tube). There are 2 holes in the suede to help with placement of the ball and stick, I placed a pearl on one and glued the stick to cover the other one...

Fold the sides of the table top under and glue in place.  Glue the "fringe" pieces along the long side (there aren't any pieces for the short sides of the top).  I put Queen & Co. large black pearls just above the holes cut in the fringe pieces.



For the bottom of the table fold the "Box" pieces and glue to form the table base, they are pretty self-explanatory.  Glue the 3 straight and scalloped trim layers together and glue in place on the leg pieces.  Attach the leg pieces to the long sides of the box.

Wallah....you're done....What Fella wouldn't enjoy getting a gift in something this special.....I thought this project was pretty special as a gift box...but last week someone made the bottom of the table and filled it with flowers to look like a planter-I thought it was even more amazing....check it out here...
