Hello Baby Card

Hi fellow scrappers.  This is Erika from http://EKittyScraps.blogspot.com.  Sorry for the late post but I was very under the weather yesterday.  The card I made is for a friends' baby shower.  The baby's room is going to decorated in Hello Kitty since she is having a baby girl.  

I did not have the Hello Kitty cricut cartridge (rare- hard to find and not on cricut craftroom), I cut out the Hello Kitty image from a coloring book.  I colored the Kitty with copic markers and used distress markers on the bear.  I also added black eyelashes to the Kitty's eyes.  Next I used my Cricut Expression and cut out Hello Baby at .50 inches on fuschia paper using the Artiste Cartridge.  I used my Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge punch on the pink paper and assembled my card.  I added two of Mrs. Grossman's baby safety pin stickers to my card and I was finished.  (Note: please ignore fuschia paper scrap on the kitty-I noticed this in the photo after the baby shower).

Hi Meg here from PeacockPaperie with a fun springy little card for you.
I am in love with these border templates from Kiwi Lane Designs and they work so well with so many Cricut images. For this one I used Walk In My Garden to cut the blue flower shape. Details were added with pen stiching and a paper pierced edge.
Patterned papers and chipboard sticker are Simple Stories Vintage Bliss.

Altered Light Switch Cover

Welcome   CricutFANatics !!!  Always look forward to sharing with you my favs.  It's Melody (KauaiMelody on the cricut forums, and CricutMelody on my blog) here to show you a home décor project that is super fun and super fast.  Have you taken a really good look at your light switch covers? Can you kick em up a notch.  Well, after today I hope you will say, "Yes, I can ."

Here is the one I made this week.  I wanted to add a little Asian Pizzaz to my wall fixture.

I painted the switch cover gold and traced the front side down onto designer paper. ( I used Modge Podge to glue it down and give it a sheen that looks like it's part of the plastic).

I used Martha Stewart's Specialty Finish on the Gold.

I blinged up some Chinese Coins I received from Gail as a fun little gift.  I so enjoy incorporating embellishments from our talented crafters on the Cricut Boards.  (Sorry Michael's, but you gotta admit, these are a little less commercial and have a whole lot more soul)

I included a Tim Holtz clasp on the lower right side.  I tucked the chain under the coin as I hot glued them down together.

This would be a could place to add a Cricut die cut or Cuttlebugged imagel  The chain hangs down away from the switch, and shouldn't see much action.  I am going to leave it plain for now, as it is pretty blinged up and my muse is telling me to stop.  Maybe your muse will say, "Go for It".

Spring is for babies!

Hello everyone!  Michele here from www.michelegreen.com.  Today I am sharing with you a simple baby card that you can make in less than 30 minutes.  I know because I did!  A gentleman at work was having a baby shower and so I needed a quick card to go with the gift.  I raced downstairs and grabbed my go-to cart for babies - Baby Steps!  This cart is so simple, I love it for all things baby!

The diaper was cut at 3.5".  The ducky diaper pin was cut at 1.5".

For the inside, I simply put a strip I had cut off of the cover background paper.  It gives it a more finished look.

The next time you need a baby card, I hope you think of the cart Baby Steps!

Treat Jar for Animals

So sorry this post is late.  I was very sick last night and didn't get things done.  Feeling much better after a 12 hour rest.  Enough with this icky stuff .  On to the fun!!

My co-worker's daughter has horse boarding ranch.  I told her I would make a treat jar for the horses.  The container is a very large animal cracker jar from Walmart.  I used Old West and Yee Haw carts.  The images are cut at 3".  (Warning:  the boots are very difficult to make from vinyl when cut this small.  I recommend cutting the boot at 5 'inches or larger.)  I get my vinyl from printonit.com.  They have a trial pack of 6" by 12"pieces 32 colors for about $12.00.  Their service is great and they have monthly email discounts.

Pinch Me!

Hi, everyone!  This is Lori from The Singing Shell blog and I have decided to do another layout.  Yes, I am not giving up on my quest to become a better scrapbooker. :)

My sister got my five month old, Matthew, a cute little outfit that said: Pinch Me, I'm Cute!  There was a funny little crab on top of the words and I thought to myself:  Well, wouldn't that make a great title for a layout?  I never think about layouts by accident and usually force myself to make them.  So I further thought to myself: Well, I better scrap it, then!

This is the original picture which was cropped for the layout.

I used the Martha Stewart Crafts Birthday Cake Art cartridge for the letters: Chic Font.  They are cut at 1 in.  The fun crabs come from the Life's a Beach cartridge.  I cut those at 1.5 in.  I sprinkled on some Clear Rock Candy Dry Glitter.  This stuff is great because it is see through but you can get still the sparkle!  (Which I am milking until the boys get older because by then I don't think glitter will quite cut it.)

Lastly, I cut some yellow and turquoise rectangles at 2.25 x 5.5 and arranged them on the side.

I am finding - at least, for myself - that if I keep scrapbooking simple I enjoy it more.  Which is kind of funny because I can make some pretty complicated cards. :D

Life is Beautiful Layout

Hello crafters. Cindy here from Scrap-Obsessed. Sorry I'm late today. I was trying to finish up today's project and realized I didn't have the right pictures to go with it. It was originally supposed to be a layout for Mother's Day, but I didn't have pictures of my mom that I could use. What I did have sitting on my desk were lots of pictures of our new puppy, Coco Puff.

Sorry the picture is crooked. I was trying to hurry and used my phone instead of my camera.

With this layout today I wanted to show how you can take a paper kit and add few Cricut elements to dress it up a bit. All the paper and stickers are from a paper collection called La Belle Vie at Close to my Heart. It was in last year's catalog and I've had it sitting in my room collecting dust until now. I really need to find more time to use my supplies.

On the left side of the layout I added a butterfly and flourish from Art Philosophy. On the right side I added another butterfly, flourish, a couple corner flourishes and our puppy's name.

Here is a close-up of one of the butterflies.I cut the bottom and top layer with the same paper just to add a little dimension. Then I added a few pearl accents.

Technique Tutorial: Adding Multiple Dimension

This is Debbie O'Neal of Scrap Me Quick Designs.  Happy MAY DAY to you all !  Hard to believe it is Spring already and Mother's Day is just around the corner.   I do have a couple of ANNOUNCEMENTS to make before I get to my project post today so please bear with me.  

 1) SAY FAREWELL:  I would like you to all join me in thanking ScrapperBecka for contributing her time to host our Monthly Cricut Challenges since we started the blog.  She has done an amazing job coming up with some really fun challenges. Unfortunately, Becky's life has gotten so busy she can longer continue hosting the challenge effective this month. If anyone else is interested in taking over the Monthly Cricut Challenge hosting, please contact me. As much as I love the Monthly Cricut Challenges, I just don't have time to do this myself. 

2) OTHER NEWS:  The reason why I am unable to take on more responsiblity with Cricut FANatics is actually kind of exciting news. I am now a monthly Contributing Editor for Die Cut Crazy, a digital only magazine about all types of die cutting available through the iTunes App Store for the iPAD (only).

I am writing a monthly article titled “LETS TALK DIE CUTS”. My first article appeared in the April issue and the May issue is coming out soon. To find out more about the magazine, check out my blog post HERE.  

As you can imagine, writing the article is taking up a lot of my time. Not to mention, managing Cricut FANatics Blog, starting up my business at Scrap Me Quick Designs and hosting Crafty Cut Ups Facebook Group, PLUS  most importantly helping with my dad's hospital visits for his progessing lung cancer treatments,  I just don't have time for much else. I do miss hanging out on the Circle MB chatting with you all. I try and stop by when I can.  I just wanted to take this time to let you know why I haven't been around much lately. Rest assured I am still using my Cricut.

Speaking of using my Cricut, lets move on to today's featured post: 

TECHNIQUE TUTORIAL: Adding Multiple Dimension 

With Mother's Day coming up, I needed to get started on my gift packaging for my Mother-In-Law's gift.  She really appreciates it when I create something special for her and  she loves dimension so I was inspired to create something fun for her. 

Flowers are so appropriate for Mothers Day so I started out by selecting a 5 petal flower because they are great for layering on projects. There are several Cricut cartridges to choose from with this type of flower such as All Mixed Up, Autumn Celebrations, Mothers Day Bouquet, Serenada, etc.  But I used the flower from the Sophie Cricut cartridge.

1.  I cut multiple flowers at 2" from a variety of small patterned papers. Selecting two flowers from two different patterns, I used a foam pop dot to add the two layers together

      

Tip: 6X6 paper pads are great for this since they have smaller scaled patterns to choose from.

      That created our 1st flower dimension step.

2.  Using my fingers to manipulate the flower petals of the flower shapes, I bent each one slightly in towards itself.

      That created the 2nd flower dimension step.

3.  I added some twine to colorful button and you guessed it, added it to the center of the flower with a pop dot. 

     This created the 3rd flower dimension step.

4.  Here is the final dimensional flower. I repeated the above steps and created multiple flowers.

 

5.  I cut some butterfly shapes from the Artiste cartridge at 1" out of another small patterned paper. I folded the wings on each side of the center of the body so the wings stood up.

 

Once I created these dimensional elements, I put together a gift bag, a tag and a card.

 

As you can see, I used a plain white gift bag, and added the dimensional elements I created to the front of the bag.  The grass for the flowers I used my scissors to create fringe to make it dimensional as well. The gift bag is going to hold a cookbook signed by her favorite author. But shhhh, dont tell.

 

 

I made a coordinating Mothers Day Card using more dimensional elements I created.

 

 

And since we are giving her a gift card to her favorite store, I even made her

a matching gift card holder using another dimensional flower on an A2 envelop.

Hi There Crafters!

This is Yvonne from Ink-spirations. I started out with a LEVER card design that I had seen over at Splitcoaststampers.

The images and pattern paper printed using Lori's Garden cartridge and the Imagine. After I had picked the design and the paper I decided this would make a good graduation card.

Blue paper textured with Swiss Dots, inked with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass ink and faux stitched.

The sentiment was computer generated.

Pretty Purse and Gift Enclosure Cards

Hello Cricut Fanatics Fans! Happy Monday! Chris here from scrappin-nanapuddin.blogspot.com sharing my new obsession! I love making these little gift enclosure card sets with the purse and I make them for the Azle Lions Club raffle! I love to see the ladies all hoping that they get their number drawn first, because the purse and cards are always first to go! I make all kinds of colors and patterns but this one is my favorite.

The purse was cut on CCR using the CTMH Artiste at 5.7x10.35 will hold the 3x3 cards perfectly. The doily was stamped and embossed using the CTMH  Love Doily as well as the Celebrate. The butterfly is a MS butterfly punch. These make awesome gift enclosure cards and the little purse can also be used for a small gift or make a few for favors if you are maybe having a bridal shower?! The ladies at Lions love the little purse best! Me too!! All the card were cut at 3x6 using the rounded card on the Artiste cartridge also! Best cartridge Cricut/CTMH made, IMHO! If this cart doesn't have it, you don't need it, I always say!! LOL!

This is the same purse, cut a little bigger to hold the butterfly cards which are 3x4. CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy was used to make these. I used "hide contour" to move the butterflies where I wanted them! So I could emboss the butterfly in white on the front, the stamp also from CTMH. The paper was cut with white Colorbok paper and colored with gelatos! if you haven't tried gelatos, you are missing some fun! You can make any color you want or need!

Beautiful flowers layout

Mini Pinatas

Hi Cricut Fanatics!  I hope this Saturday finds you all well.  This is Rita with Rita's Paper Obsession.  I apologize for the late post, I went on a long weekend trip to visit family and came home with a stomach bug. 

My post for today is a party favor I made for our office celebration of our clerical staff on Administrative Professionals Day.  We decided to serve breakfast burritos and give a gift card to a local restaurant for the seven support staff in our office.  A fiesta theme seemed to suit best and I wanted a gift card holder that was unique to the theme.  You can't have a fiesta without a pinata with the goodies in it, right?  A little pushed for time, I had searched the Internet to buy something but didn't like anything I came across.  I finally found a blog that had a DIY version of exactly what I was looking for so I decided to make them instead.

I chose the donkey pinata from Birthday Bash and cut two at 7 inches from a 7 1/2 square piece of poster board.  I didn't worry about flipping the image as it was going to get covered by tissue paper.  I then cut four 1 1/2 x 7 1/2 inch strips.

The image was a little wider than the piece of poster board but that wasn't a problem as I cut off the tail and the front ear and mane between the ears.

I ran each strip of poster board along a pen a couple of times to make it a little more pliable.

I wanted a little trap door in the bottom to put the goodies in so I scored about 2 inches from the end of the first strip and started taping it to one side of the donkey with masking tape.  Joining the other strips to make it all the way around the cut, trimming off the excess. 

Next step was to adhere the opposite donkey side.

As I had seven of these to make, I learned that it was easier and faster to put a strip of masking tape on the poster board strip, then cut little slits along the edge that would be taped to the donkey.  Sorry, I didn't take pictures of that process.  I used four strips instead of one long one as I thought it would be easier to work with.  I'm not quite sure about that as I had to tape the ends together.  The process of taping the donkey together at first took me about an hour but as I perfected my technique I could tape one together in about half that time.

At this point I filled the shape with the gift card and chocolate candies through the little trap door on the bottom and taped that shut.

From a muli-colored pack of tissue paper, I cut off 1 inch sections.  At home I used my scissors but it was a lot easier using the heavy duty guillotine paper cutter at work.

For the fringe I cut slits along the tissue strip about half way.

Next was the fun part of decorating.  I decorated one as a sample and then enlisted some coworkers to help with this process.

At first everyone was a little worried about doing it right. They aren't a crafty bunch and I was making them use glue! 

But once they got into it they created some really fun colorful pinatas.

Eyes were cut from cardstock using a 3/4 inch paper punch for the white and my two-hole desk punch for the black.   Some added tails from 1/2 inch strips of tissue paper and other clever accessories.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the completed pinatas as I wanted to take them on the tables on Administrative Professionals Day.  My mistake as I missed the whole thing.  I was told they were a huge hit with the staff.
